Message | There seemed to be some support for this prior to the last election. We'd like to see if that support still exists. We believe that, given there is so much disagreement over what smoking regulations should exists, the best way to handle this is to give the authority to the states. |
Date | 03:30:47, April 28, 2008 CET | From | Vanuku Sinatranoan Party | To | Debating the State Authority in Smoking |
Message | The Vanuku Sinatranoan Party is concerned that such a major health issue could possibly have a great deal of disparity between the five States of Vanuku. As we have argued previously, important issues need to be equally regulated right across the nation. We would, however, like to see this law changed. Just as people should be allowed the right to smoke, so too should others be allowed to not be exposed to this unhealthy habit. We would rather see a propsal for "Smoking is legal outdoors and in private homes and clubs, but illegal indoors in all places of employment." This would generate a better balance between the rights of people to live healthily, and those who choose to smoke. |
Date | 13:58:32, April 29, 2008 CET | From | Vanuku Nationalists Party | To | Debating the State Authority in Smoking |
Message | Nationalists Councilmember Phil York annouced that members of the party support the idea of regulation of Tobacco/smoking at state level and would support such a Bill in the Grand Council Moments later Chancellor Collins annouced she did not support the decentralization of the issue, but concided she had no power to control her Grand Council party members. The Party would vote in favour of the bill if put forward to the Grand Council |
