Bill: Medical Malpractice Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Novy Smer Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2115

Description[?]:

Doctors and other medical staff should not have to live in fear of being sued for doing their best. They have difficult jobs and have to make difficult decisions - sometimes they get it wrong. But the human being who doesn't make mistakes has not yet been born. These people spend their lives trying to help others, don't allow the vindictive types to make their lives a misery.

MessageWe don't feel that a doctor should be sued for an innocent mistake. But on the other hand, if carelessness, negligence, callousness or some improper behaviour is involved then he or she should be held liable. We therefore feel that malpractice suits are legitimate under certain circumstances.

MessageHis Grace likes to perform minor surgical operations upon peasants as a hobby in his spare time. A couple of times things have gone a little wrong and the wives or husbands have had a whinge about laws concerning 'medical malpractice'. His Grace does not see why he should be threatened by them like this, as they are only peasants. He therefore throws his full support behind this proposal.

Random fact: Moderation will not accept Cultural Protocol updates which introduce, on a significant scale, cultures which are likely to be insufficiently accessible to players. In particular, for all significant cultures in Particracy, it should be easy for players to access and use online resources to assist with language translation and the generation of character names. Moderation reserves the right to amend Cultural Protocols which are deemed to have introduced significant cultures that are not sufficiently accessible and which are not being actively role-played with.
