Bill: Re. Luxury Sales Tax Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Hutori Conservative Council

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2580

Description[?]:

We have taken the concerns of other parties on board in regards or our recent abolishment of the luxury sales tax on board, and we have decided that reducing the tax to 5 percent would be acceptable.
Contrary to what the HLP seems to be asserting, we certainly favour indirect taxation rather than direct. We absolutely favour consumption taxes over income taxes. We proposed to get rid of the luxury sales tax because other parties are not proposing substantially lower income taxes. In the gran scheme of things, if the income tax was significantly reduced, we would favour a higher sales tax to make up for this.
In the spirit of rationality, we will bring back a 5 percent sales tax on luxury goods, as proposed by various parties in our previous legislation.
