Debate
These messages have been posted to debate on this bill:
Date | 20:06:12, September 20, 2005 CET | From | RSDP - Democratic Front | To | Debating the Respect for Religion Act |
Message | For the third, against all others. |
Date | 20:50:14, September 20, 2005 CET | From | Liberal Imperialist Party | To | Debating the Respect for Religion Act |
Message | Against all except possibly the second, which we would give further thought but probably also come out against. This isnt "respect for religion" - it's state interferance with religion. |
Date | 02:28:32, September 21, 2005 CET | From | Civic Democratic Party | To | Debating the Respect for Religion Act |
Message | Against all except possibly the second article, though I would wish for government restrictions upon them. This is nothing more than a blurring of the line between church and state that we have fought over the years in Rutania to protect. This will lead to a state sanctioned religion and a state wherein religion is part of the political discourse. I feel that we should remain a secular liberal democracy and not begin the slippery slope towards theocracy. |
Date | 03:41:15, September 21, 2005 CET | From | Modern Democrats | To | Debating the Respect for Religion Act |
Message | It won't be a theocracy-- theocracies are governed by religious leaders. In Rutania, the state will maintain the quality of spiritual organizations and ensure citizen respect for the values of religion. No preference will be given to any one belief system. |

Message | We would support the second. |
