Message | FBSP believes: - that torture is never morally justifiable - that the information gained from torture is highly unreliable - that the definition of "grave emergency" is subject to manipulation by the state - that torture dehumanizes the torturer - that torture shames society as a whole - that if we conduct torture, we become as bad as, or worse than, the suspects that we are torturing. We further note the the prohibition on torture by international human rights conventions is absolute and is not subject to derogations or exceptions. We call on all parties to vote to abolish this scar on the conscience of the nation. |
