MessageWhile we would like less restriction on logging, we oppose devolving it entirely to local governments. We support devolving hunting and fishing, though would still like some minimum protection against overfishing/hunting. We oppose all other proposals.

OOC: The whaling one is kind of rediculous as some local governments don't even have ocean to whale in...

MessageOOC: I disagree. While it's true that many have it irrelevant, there is a great difference in the bays and waters offered from north to south. The whales might behave differently in different areas. It makes a great deal of sense.

MessageOOC: I'm not saying it doesn't make ANY sence, I'm just saying it would be funny if a state like AZ made whaling legal in the US.

MessageOOC: Frankly, I think AZ has every right to allow whaling in all of its waters. I think the local governments here stands, as I interpret, not as the regional legislatures coming to a common decision, but instead, different decisions for each region. Otherwise, this would be a rather frivolous bill, in my opinion.

Message[[Well, really, it COULD apply to either. As it stands, law in Sekowo is such that these powers are devolved to the regions, and local or District governments can then appropriate the laws, UNTIL regional governments take them to vote, in which case the regional governments can "appropriate" any laws which have been devolved. Generally, it's quite easy for a District government to do this.]]

MessageOOC: Of course. That's why I think they have every right to slaughter every single whale in their waters. Animals rights aside, if AZ wants to go and exterminate the whales in their waters, they should go for it.
