Message | We already have two cities named with "Liberty" themes. "Belmore" adds a little more local flavor. Also, "Far Haven" is a little more exotic than just "Haven." I still like "Holy City of Bog's Temple;" it's an ancient city that recently grew up with a large population. I appreciate the objection to naming cities with religious names in real life. In real life, I'm very secular. But this is very appropriate for Aloria's role play. Anyway, I'll leave this up to see if anyone likes my suggestions. |

Message | I'll vote yes to this. OOC: The moderaters won't change anything until the bill establishing the cities is posted on a game moderation forum. So, if the other one passes, it doesn't mean anything until acted on. Therefore, we could pass this one instead, if it it pleases parliament. |

Message | I think Haven is a good nam. We don't like the name Far Haven... but then again, who are we do say something about that? But here's another idea: since the Sildar province can be compared very much with the reallife US-State California (large coasts, beaches, tourist and movie industry, a high tech valley, etc.), and since that state has many Spanish sounding names to her cities (like Los Angeles, San Fransisco, Sacramento, etc.), and since we added on Wiki that Sildar has had many immigrants from Istalia (wich is very Spanish/Italian sounding) and other exotic nations, maybe we can call one city in that style? San Remo for example? And STILL don't like the name Holy City of Bog's Temple. It's too long, and although you may be very secular in real life, just think a bit realistic and think of you know one city on the world wich has the name of Holy City of someone's temple? And since it's going to be a very large city with a large population, it's not really a proper name for a metropole like that to be be called Holy City of Bog's Temple? Why can't it just be Holy City? Of Bog City? Or just a shorter version of your weird input to the Ultran citynaming. Bogville? Bogtown? Saint Bog? Really: Holy City of Bog's Temple can be the title of the next Indiana Jones movie! |

Message | When considering the name, we knew we wanted to have a city like Jerusalem, or for Muslim's Mecca, or for Catholics the Vatican. The problem here is that whatever name we make for the Bogist equavilant, we need to make sure its apparent that the city is a Holy City of Bog (this was our original idea, The Holy City of Bog). Bogsville Bogstown or even Saint Bog simply don't work. |

Message | How about something in another language for the Bog-town? We propose something like 'Irselbog' (from Hebrew 'Yhr shel', which according to Wiktionary means 'City of') or 'Hierobog' (which would be 'Holy Bog' in greek). |

Message | Bogard? (from Bog's Garden?) Well I like Bog Point or something with Temple better, myself. Or some kind of word with 'Temple' in it... |

Message | I like Hierobog Temple. Does that work? |

Message | Boggrad |
Date | 21:35:55, May 28, 2008 CET | From | Democratic Rationalists (PrCoa) | To | Debating the Amended City Naming Resolution |
Message | The problem with Hierobog Temple is that it's sort of like naming a city Priestgod Church. "Hierophant" is the actual name of a type of cleric. Don't quote me on the spelling. But it does have a ring. I like Boggrad. Or Bog's Gardens. |
Date | 21:37:02, May 28, 2008 CET | From | Democratic Rationalists (PrCoa) | To | Debating the Amended City Naming Resolution |
Message | Google defines hierophant: Originally the high priest of the Hellenic Mysteries at Eleusis. More generally, any priest of the Mysteries who reveals sacred secrets to initiates. |
Date | 21:38:14, May 28, 2008 CET | From | Democratic Rationalists (PrCoa) | To | Debating the Amended City Naming Resolution |
Message | And from Wikipedia: The role of the hierophant in religion is to bring the congregants into the presence of that which is deemed holy. The word comes from Ancient Greece, where it was constructed from the combination of ta hiera, "the holy," and phainein, "to show." In Attica it was the title of the chief priest at the Eleusinian Mysteries. A hierophant is an interpreter of sacred mysteries and arcane principles. |

Message | Well, Tahierphanein Bog it is not? APU and Socialist Alliance mentioned an other name? |

Message | Let it roll of your tongue phonetically just once before rejecting it. Say the syllables once slowly, so you know how they sound. Ta-here-fa-neen Bog. Then say it fast, like you're used to saying it. Tahierphanene Bog. Sounds awesome to me. But if nobody else likes it, we'll go with Boggrad. |

Message | Since I'm leaving, I guess I have to tell you how to do this. There is a forum wall for new cities. Its under the game moderation forum. Post the Link to this bill on the new cities forum, and make it clear to the moderators reading what you want. Keep in mind you need 2/3 of the votes. Take it or leave it. |
