Bill: Wage Budget

Details

Submitted by[?]: Birleşik Demokrat Parti

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2586

Description[?]:

[Just to RP wages]

Supreme Governor - 275,000 JAK per annum
Chancellor - 145,000 JAK per annum
Cabinet Member - 90,000 JAK per annum
Council Member - 55,000 JAK per annum

Of course, the Chancellor and Cabinet members are also Council members - so if they wish, they can claim two wages. That would total 200,000 JAK for the Chancellor and 145,000 JAK for Cabinet members.

MessageAre the Chancellor and Cabinet members really members of the Supreme Council? I always had it in my mind that they weren't.

MessageI'd imagine the Chancellor and Cabinet to be elected members of t he Council, yes [basing it on the UK at least]

MessageWell, it comes out to a total of 20,840,000JAK per year, according to my calculations. I don't know exactly where the money is coming from, but our Head of Government funding is only 5,000,000JAK per year, and I may be operating under the assumption that the Head of Government funding section covers government salaries. Though I suppose the Finance funding section might cover it, and we have a 50,000,000JAK budget there.

But we maybe should also take into account full office staffs for all these people, as well as scribes and I don't know, caterers. And the Finance budget probably also pays the salaries of the nation's entire cadre of tax collectors, among other things.

It begins to get very complicated very quickly.

MessageAs for how it compares to the average wage of a citizen, I don't know. But we do know in terms of tax brackets: we only currently have the three tax brackets: 0%, 6%, and 13%. Council Members would be in the 6%, Cabinet members in 6% if they claim only one salary, 13% if they claim two, and the Supreme Governor and Chancellor would pay 13%.

MessageI think we may deliberately abstain on this one (something we've never done before). There's just too much uncertainty.

MessageWe seriously considered abstaining as well. But in the end decided to vote against it--we cannot see that the budget supports this.

The reason we considered abstaining is that this does not affect our members directly. Anyone working full-time for the Party receives a salary from the Party (and anyone belonging to the PFM in an elected position falls into that category). Any pay they receive from the Government is donated to the Party.

Random fact: "OOC", "IC" and "IG" are commonly-used acronyms in Particracy. "OOC" refers to comments, discussions and actions which are out-of-character, meaning they are done player-to-player rather than party-to-party. "IC" refers to in-character interactions (ie. party-to-party). Similarly, "IG" means in-game, although this term may also simply refer to what happens in the actual game interface, as opposed to on the forum or elsewhere. "RP" just means "role-play".
