Whereas, We agree that religious ministers should be able to be paid, but

Whereas, We do not want L. Ron Hubbards and Elmer Gantrys to fleece their flocks,

We hereby propose the position in between our nation's long-standing no-remuneration position and the current unregulated position, that the maximum remuneration shall be set by law. The maximum remuneration for a religious leader shall be equal to triple the average pay of all full-time workers.

MessageThe purpose here is not anti-religion, but anti-fleecing. Legitimate religious leaders don't become extraordinarily wealthy. The only ones affected by this would be those who are con artists.
