Message | We agree with the sentiment, but we take a different stance on smoking to the articles presented here. We believe that, unless in a government building or within public property, smoking regulations should be at the discretion of the property owner. For example, bars etc. should be able to determine their own smoking laws as they see fit for their business, just as firms in office buildings should be able to determine theres, based on their own needs. Therefore, we see no need to delegate this responsibility to local governments - why not just leave it to the discretion of the property owner from a national level? As for government buildings and public property, we would be able to support local regulations, but not exclusively (ie. on private property as well). As for the sale of tobacco, we may be able to agree to this, but would to the HLRP consider altering it so that only adults could purchase tobacco? We certainly don't want it to be available for children. |
