Message | Do we export weapons to tyrants? No. Do we export weapons to countries we know will us them to oppress others? No! The current system helps us protect the nations and people that need protecting. The Arms Industry supports thousands of jobs, if the UHT has their way these people will be jobless! The arms industry keeps Indrala up to date in advanced technology, without it talented Indralans will be seeking work in other state's where they know they can get work! |

Message | First of all, the 'jobs' argument is unworkable because you could as easily say that people making lethal poisons or anything dangerous should be allowed to do so simply becasue it is their job. Secondly, if the arms trade is legal, there is no guarantee that weapons are not exported to tyrants or oppressive regimes. By making the industry legal you open the floodgates to a wave of crime through exportation. I certainly wouldn't like to think my country was helping to kill people - whatever the political circumstances. Would you? |

Message | I would be much happier to live in a world where no one got killed, but that isn't going to happen. As soon as one state has weapons every free state needs weapons. Our current checks ensure our weapons won't be used for "evil" purposes and if they ever changed, we would cut off their supply of guns and ammunition for their guns. There is a lesson that the UHT seems to have never learned, we aren't living in a hypothetical wonderland, we leave in the real world and some things about it aren't nice, we just have to accept it and deal with it. |
