Message | It is impossible for our government to inspect every inch of pipes in our country. One, it is too expensive. Two, we don't have the manpower to do so. We are very sure that local governments are making sure their citizens are getting drinkable water, they are taxpayers, remember? Unless there is an epidemic of some kind or a big problem, we cannot support this bill. |

Message | inspect every single pipe? it isn't about the pipes but about the water. to have the proper facilities to decontaminate the water, etc. if the government won't do it, why would local governments? :/ |

Message | OOC: When I refer to government in this debate, I mean national government because we are in Parliament debating this. Figuratively speaking, pipes must be inspected. Every inch cannot be inspected, of course, that is know. It doesn't matter how pure the water is if a pipe is broken and there is outside contamination. It is about the facilities to decontaminate the water but more importantly the way water is carried to the homes of our citizens. Local government will provide good water to their citizens because they wouldn't want any infections to spread out and kill their citizens, that is common sense. If in any way, local governements don't do a good job, the national government will step in and fix the problems. |

Message | well, but then we'd be allowing them not to do a good job. The government can do exactly the same as the local governments and with more resources. It would probably not be possible to take care of the whole country at once, but with time they would do a better job. |

Message | Local governments know better about their own territory. Like I said, there hasn't been any case to this day of poisoning or death by infection because of polluted water. I am not saying the government can't do it but local governments do it better and cheaper. OOC: I voted yes but I intended to vote no. |

Message | I dont trust any government to regulate anything, but atleast local governments are the lesser of two evils in this matter |

Message | Let it to private companies to do it. Yes, that is a good option (sarcasm included). |

Message | Private companies should self regulate the services they provide, and if you dont like the services they provide pick another company |

Message | The thing is, water is provided by the government, not private companies. |

Message | Well that can proarbly be changed |

Message | When private companies are in charge of providing water, you'll have to start paying for a glass of water at a café. |

Message | Obviously, Anarchy isn't possible overnight. So we've got to go for the next best thing that leads there. The Health of the people is of the utmost importance. or just imagine it this way: it's better to have a nazi government that maintains a safe water supply than one that doesn't. ;) |
