| This bill calls for the foundation of an Academy of the Hebrew Language (Ha-akademya la-lashon ha-'Ivrit) to be established by the Government as the "supreme institution for scholarship on the Hebrew language". The Academy will be responsible for creating new Hebrew words to keep up with today's rapidly changing society. In addition, the Academy regulates spelling, grammar, and vocabulary for government publications and the educational system. Ironically, though the organization's tasks include creating new words from Hebrew roots and structures to replace loanwords (which are derived from other languages), its own name is a loanword, "akademya" They will also hold a Grand Prix La-Ivrit. and it will be an award for Hebrew literature. They will also publish a official Dictionary. This will be the nation "norm" dictionary for us and the world. Also, at the head of this organization there will be a council of 40 people. These people will be elected by the Knesset . These people will be the 40 best Hebrew writers in the world. Everytime one member dies there is a vote in the Knesset of who to fill that seat. They will then stay there until they die. We must have council member from each corner of Hebrew life (the nation, the Zionist, the foreigner, the Christian (or other), etc. ) This will be funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture. For the language of the homeland! |
