Message | We fervently oppose this legislation - in particular, articles 1 and 2. We believe that the death penalty is an appropriate retributive punishment for capital crimes, though we do believe that local governments should determine this punishment, rather than the federal government. We certainly don't believe it should be banned from a federal level. Simply put, in order for serious criminals to be punished in a way proportional to the crime they have committed, it is sometimes only appropriate that they be administered the death penalty - ie., if they have murdered someone, they too should be killed. Eye for an eye. We also believe that the death penalty provides a substantial deterrant for potential criminals - simply put, the more severe the punishment for certain crimes, the less likely the criminal is to make a decision to commit that crime, in light of its consequences. As for the article concerning illegal aliens, this is extremely irresponsible. Illegal aliens are a burden on our economy, on our welfare system (and therefore on tax-payers), on our job markets (they are often willing to work for cheaper wages, gradually undermining and lowering wages for legal workers), and on society in general, as they are unnable to integrate and often create racial gangs and enclaves, and disrupt the cohesiveness of our culture, as well as gradually causing the dreadful phenomenon that is multi-culturalism. It is unfair to the law-abiding, tax-paying citizens of Trigunia that this completely unnecessary burden be placed on their shoulders. It is also completely destructive to a cohesive society and to our culture. And why should we pay no mind to people who are actively breaking this country's laws? Do the CRP propose that we also turn a blind eye to burglars or rapists? |
