Bill: Reforming Legal Representation
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberale Partij (L)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2589
Description[?]:
It's a bit silly for the government to pay the legal bills of the super wealthy. We suggest that government provision of legal aid to the accused is restricted to those who genuinely need it. |

Message | It is not silly. It is providing equality to the judicial process, whereas your policy would let the rich hire the best lawyers in Terra and win their case whether they were guilty or innocent, while the poor are handed overworked and underpaid state lawyers. |
Date | 14:23:44, June 08, 2008 CET | From | Liberale Partij (L) | To | Debating the Reforming Legal Representation |
Message | The rich would still hire the best lawyers in Terra; they'd just get partially reimbursed for it under the current system. |

Message | I was under the impression that all defendants were equally given a state lawyer, paid for by the state, at every trial. |

Message | Well, that'd be bad too. What if you end up with a dick of a lawyer? |
Date | 21:47:52, June 08, 2008 CET | From | Christian Communist Front | To | Debating the Reforming Legal Representation |
Message | I would like it because everybody would have a chance of getting a bad lawyer, not just the poor who can't hire a good one. |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
Random quote: "Erotic politicians, that's what we are. We're interested in anything about revolt, disorder, chaos and activity that appears to have no meaning." Jim Morrison |
