Message | No thanks. If all agricultural operations were state owned and operated by the state, the central government would be able to determine right off what will be needed and what won't. |

Message | The Hulstrian Nationalist Party strongly supports this initiative, which is a reform that we have been pressing for quite some time. We strongly commend the Independent Royalist Party’s commitment to Greater Hulstria’s farmers and to safeguarding the economic prosperity of our nation. We believe that this could signify the blossoming of a fruitful partnership between the HNP and the newly-formed IRP. On the other hand, we must express sincere disappointment at the position advocated by another newly-formed party, the Fascist Authority Party. Their position goes against everything that this country should stand for, and would be even more extreme than what we experienced under communism. The small farmers of Greater Hulstria would see their life’s work nationalised by the government. Farm productivity, which heavily contributes to the economy of Greater Hulstria and is particularly important in Mitrania and Hilgar, would undoubtedly fall drastically. We must urge the FAP to reconsider this disastrous position. |

Message | FAP: Do you honestly believe some of the things you type down? The current proposal is the most logical there. The government steps in when there is a high demand for a certain crop and only steps in when that occurs. There's no need for a state owned farming company or any sort of thing like that whatsoever. Yes, we are very supportive of the farmers in Greater Hulstria. They are the backbone of the working class in the country and hurting them by "State Owned" companies is an insult. |

Message | We are disappointed in the HNP. The market can decide for itself if there should be farmers in Hulstria or not, we are against any kind of subsidy and thought the HNP were the same, but they are to busy to denying their roots. |

Message | Backbone of the working class, very nice. I'm sure all the farmers came out in hordes this election for that awesome slogan! Speaking of Mitrania, let me remind the Imperial Diet choose me in the recent elections, gaining over 27& of the vote, 3 million more votes than the HNP and over 6 million more than the Independent Royalist Party! It's obvious to me that the people of Mitrania support my initiatives in the Diet. Nationalizing the farming industry would bring out more productivity, more crops being grown, and all food deadlines meet. This means no more waiting for the government to get permission to go get some crop to meet the market's demand while people are waiting. |

Message | Mitranians are quick to support new political parties for the first few elections of their existence, as is the case of most Greater Hulstrians. We are confident that once the political landscape has stabilised, most Mitranians will return to their rightful home: the Hulstrian Nationalist Party. As for the PLP, the HNP has never practised a policy of general opposition to subsidies, particularly when we believe them to be in the best interests of the nation, which is obviously the case here, for both economic and cultural reasons. |

Message | Then the HNP is foolish and in consequent! If you are pro business and for the market to decide, you are against subsidy, it is only logic! |

Message | The last statement by the Progressive Liberal Party makes no sense. While it is completely logical to state that subsidies undermine the principles of a completely free market, they cannot say that subsidies are anti-business. Businesses benefits directly from government subsidies; subsidies provide a security net for businesses to fall back on. They are guaranteed at least a minimal profit as a result of subsidies. However, the question becomes should the government be providing these nets for businesses to fall back on, and if so, how far should they extend? That’s a question that the Hulstrian Nationalist Party is still in the process of answering, after a new legislative agenda being prescribed by the HNP National Executive which calls for cuts to government subsidies. However, we are still firmly convinced that subsidies benefit farmers and the nation at large. Not only do they help to preserve a culturally-vital part of our nation, the agriculture sector, but the security net provided to farmers ensures that our nation can grow enough food to feed itself without having to rely on foreign imports to meet our own needs for food. The proposed policy (which, subsequent to the passage of the HNP General Treatise on Government, is technically the current policy) is the most market-oriented way to do this while still having a respect for the free markets. It does not write farmers a blank cheque to continue unnecessary production, but it does provide a crucial lifeline to our nation’s farmers. Before the PLP denounces perfectly logical policies, we recommend that they consider these important points. While the HNP does not endorse all subsidies, we believe that some are beneficial to both the market and people of our nation. |
