Bill: Warning to the People of Lodamun-Tuesday Is Coming

Details

Submitted by[?]: Tuesday Is Coming

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2116

Description[?]:

Tuesday Is Coming has realized the folly of permitting our industrialists to rebuild shattered companies. We now adopt a policy of warning to other entrepreneurs and investors.

TiC Leader and Former Prime Minster of Lodamun, John Galt, has this to say:
"We have heard so much about exploitation, about the dependence of the uncommon man upon the common. We have heard it shouted that businessmen are parasites, that the workers support him, create his wealth, make his luxury possible.
I propose to show to the world who depends on whom, who supports whom, who is the source of wealth, who makes whose livelihood possible and what happens to whom when who walks out.

I admire certain people, I sympathize with them. I admire those who do not wait for society to do them any favors, who do not wait for proverbial luck but instead go out and make their luck, instead go and forge their own way. It is shameful and a terrible affront to every honest man that these people may legally be robbed in the name of "social justice." It is shameful and wrong, and I will not allow it.
I will stop the political machine of Lodamun, even if I die trying.

Incompetence is not a virtue, competence is not a burden. Any worker who is content to remain at a Democratically run business, seized from it's former owners, shall be considered thief and a traitor to all that is good in this world. They will have the opportunity to liquidate what is given to them and return it to the rightful owner(minus the wages due). Those that fail to do this will not be happy with the consequences.

The source of property rights is the law of causality. All property and all forms of wealth are produced by man's mind and labor. As you cannot have effects without causes, so you cannot have wealth without its source: without intelligence. You cannot force intelligence to work: those who're able to think, will not work under compulsion: those who will, won't produce much more than the price of the whip needed to keep them enslaved. You cannot obtain the products of a mind except on the owner's terms, by trade and by volitional consent. Any other policy of men toward man's poverty is the policy of criminals, no matter what their numbers. Criminals are savages who play in short-range and starve when their prey runs out, you who believed that crime could be 'practical' if your government decreed that robbery was legal and resistance to robbery illegal.

Those that are willing to steal, kill and destroy shall recieve a taste of their own medicine. Those that allow force and violence to be used on their behalf, will see what happens when their victims resort to force and violence. Those that feel it is ok to rob a man by majority vote, who tell him that he loses his rights simply because he is outnumbered, will discover what happens when their victims refuse to play by their rules. They that live by the sword, shall perish by the sword."

Message((ooc: i think i know where this is going, but i won't spoil TIC's surprise...))

Combined with the recent statement by Mr Galt urging foreign investors to boycott Lodamun (news from Lodamun thread on the forums, bottom of p. 5), this is a sign of an alarming attempt by the Tuesday is Coming cult to harm our country's economy. The Greens hereby re-affirm our faith in the soundness of Lodamun's economy. We note that the Prime Minister has been trying to find a compromise on the issue in question through a mixed economy reform. This temper tantrum by Mr. Galt and some of his associates therefore comes at the worst possible time.

We suggest that the Prime Minister may wish to make a statement affirming that the economy of Lodamun remains sound and that Lodamun remains a good place to invest. At a time when Mr Galt and his associates are seeking to undermine investor confidence in our market economy, the role of the government must be to show its confidence in Lodamun's economy.

We also call upon TIC ministers in the cabinet to re-affirm their support for the rule of law in Lodamun, and to promise that their party will not take the law into its own hands and begin any sort of violent mob attack on law-abiding citizens.

MessageGiven the lack of security and control over their investments, our statement did little more than remove one of the last illusions of security over investments in Lodamun. We will no longer promise something that we cannot deliver. We would like to point out that, while we stand by the statements of Mr. Galt made during the press conference(forum thread), they were made spontaneously. They can be considered rumors, as Mr. Galt is not the sole voice for all of the party.

This statement, as well as the warning printed above, are press releases and more credible for determining the official plans of the party.

We strongly encourage our members and sympathizers to abide by the law that our enemies abide by--the law of the jungle.
They say, that it is acceptable to take money or property from a nonconsenting individual because he is outnumbered. They believe that need or want is a valid claim upon the property of another. Let us see what happens when we play by their rules.

If by the mere force of numbers a majority should deprive a minority of any right, it might, in a moral point of view, justify revolution

MessageThis bill put to a vote to do the following description:

As they do not truly or rightfully own the products or the businesses, it is not fair that they get to keep the revenue. All state imposed Democratic Worker's Councils shall be penalized by a 75% corporate tax.

This will also serve as a warning to foreign investors and would-be entrepreneurs. Do not start a business in Lodamun, the more successful it is, the higher the chance that it will be seized and given to your lessers.

MessageThere arent any democratic workers councils as the law I passed means there are none. However I see this is some sort of massive RP (the contents of which I am not privee to) so I am just going to vote neigh on the basis of TiC sour grapes.

MessageEither way, the basic "stealing from the thieves" principal still applies. Before people were given businesses they had no right to own, now they are given subsidies and money they have no claim to either.

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature.

Random quote: "The day is not far off when the economic problem will take the back seat where it belongs, and the arena of the heart and the head will be occupied or reoccupied, by our real problems, the problems of life and of human relations, of creation and behaviour and religion." - John Maynard Keynes
