Bill: Gov.0004.2591
Details
Submitted by[?]: 帝国公明党 (Teikoku Kōmeitō)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2594
Description[?]:
Sekowo is a (relatively) large, strong and diverse nation, and our federal system of government shows this fact, however the system that we have used up until now is starting to fail, as can be seen by the winning of seats of secessionists parties in Shiratoku. Therefore we propose that we change our system of governance in regard to the greater Commonwealth to create a more stable, balanced and fair system of government for all. 1. The term protectorate shall be changed to state (of the Sekowan Federal Commonwealth). 2. The protectorates/states, including Sekowo proper shall hold popular elections for Senators, of which each state shall have two. 3. The Folkstmma shall become a bicameral body comprised of the lower house, which shall represent the will of the people throughout the Commonwealth and the Upper house which shall be comprised of the Senators from each of the states who represent the populations of each. 4. The states shall each have their own popularly elected legislature and executive as well as a state supreme court. 5. The states, should they so chose to shall have their own constitution that shall not be counter to the Federal constitution in the promotion of freedom, democracy and equality. |

Message | OOC: Essentially this creates a system similar to the one the United States has, just ya know, better. Plus, think about it, would you really want to live in something called a 'protectorate', I mean maybe it's just me, but after a decade or two of that status I'd start to get a bit insulted. |

Message | No! Absolutely not! The last thing we need is a stronger central government right now. |

Message | It does'nt create a stronger central government, it more or less validates the powers of local governments more by making them part of the Commonwealth totally. |

Message | It subjugates them to the federal government even more, and provides protectorates with even less autonomy. It also forces a supreme court upon them. |

Message | All territories of Sekowo must follow federal laws that have not been left to local governance. Further more all local laws, regardless of where they are in Sekowo are subject to the Supreme Court. OOC: Since the Supreme Court really only works when we do RP, it would'nt have done anything so far. |

Message | OOC: I can't believe I forgot to mention this. The Senate would be pure RP and would be based on who is dominant in the protectorates/states. So for instance AFFS and IMF would each get one senate seat from being the two in charge of the future Medina, NPP would get two from Lyore etc. Now of course I'll need to do some reformatting since I technically hold the most seats, but that's really because I've made alot of independents in the protectorates. |
