Message | We support teacher-led prayers in public schools, but we do not support mandatory religion, or all schools being forced to be religious in nature, and we do not support tax-exempt status for unrecognized 'religions' - such leniance might allow money-grabbing cult schams to operate freely, even though they are not a legitimate religion. You cannot force someone to believe in God. Such laws are also a violation of freedom of association. |

Message | And yet you force people to behave like Christains with laws banning abortion and homosexuality. The hypocrisy is incredible. |

Message | Abortion and homosexuality are not exclusively religious issues - granted, most Christian denominations oppose homosexual rights and abortion, but not all, and many people who are in no way religious oppose abortion and homosexual rights for reasons other than religious ones. Abortion isn't just wrong because Christianity says so - it's wrong because ending an innocent human life is always wrong, regardless of the circumstances. The value of human life is an ethical and moral virtue deeply entrenched in the cultural foundations of Trigunia. Similarly, the family unit is a long-established, time-tested societal institution that forms the backbone of our societal mechanism, and homosexual rights are immediately destructive to the institution of the family. These values transcend the barriers of time and place in Trigunia, because they are entrenched in our culture, our values, the foundation of our society. Granted, these virtues owe their roots to the Christian moral foundation of this country, but that is a moral foundation that should be respected and preserved, not just because we believe everybody should be a Christian or some such nonsense, but because it is Trigunia's heritage, and far be it from any party or person now to question the wisdoms of years past. Far be it from any party now to presume moral superiority to the wise men who founded this country with a vision of Christian morality in mind. The Family and Tradition Party looks not to modern, abstract notions of equality, and philisophical superstitions like complete freedom of the individual to do whatever they want - we look, instead, to Trigunia's history for the pearls of wisdom that can best guide our country into the future. We look for the values and institutions of our heritage that have stood the test of time, and believe that these values and institutions are a better guide than abstract, untested philisophical notions that have no root in culture, tradition, or religion, or politically correct social constructs that make no sense and are justified only on the basis of what is, in the modern era, accepted as a 'given' moral truth - that all should be 'equal'. The historical values of Trigunia are, to the FTP, worth preserving at all costs. But forcing people to be a part of a religion is a different thing altogether, and stands in stark contrast to Trigunia's heritage. One of the most fundamental Christian values is that one can only accept the teachings of God through their own will - nobody can force someone to believe in something if they do not truly believe in it. So, we say to the TF, there is no hypocricy in any of our actions or voting record. We are coherant with this country's heritage and traditions; its moral foundations, and we are suspicious of anything that comes into conflict with these foundations. |
