Bill: Introduction of the 'Communist Prevention League' and Related Anti-Communist Measures
Details
Submitted by[?]: Family and Tradition Party (disbanded)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2593
Description[?]:
This legislation, in light of the rise in recent times of a radical communist movement in the party politics of Trigunia, proposes that certain measures be taken to ensure that communism is prevented in Trigunia, for the safety of our people, and for the preservation of our culture, traditions, existing societal institutions, and King. The communist epedemic in this nation has grown in its intensity, almost overnight, unexpectedly. The nation was not prepared for an infestation of this nature, and so the situation has grown far worse than we would have imagined. It must be stopped before it takes its iron grip on Trigunia and destroys it from the inside. Dire times call for harsh measures. The articles proposed in this legislation are as follows: Article a) A specially designated unit, named the 'Communist Prevention League', will be formed with the express purpose of preventing communist activities and incarcerating communist deviants. Their roles will include the following: - Seeking out communist literature, such as newspaper collumns, novels, poems, and magazines, and immediately removing them from circulation. The authors of the works in question will be blacklisted, and their employment will be immediately terminated. - Seeking out communist television or radio media, blacklisting those involved, and having them removed from their employment immediately. - Seeking out any underground communist groups and incarcerating those involved, terminating their operations immediately. In the case in which they are found to have plans for violence or terrorism, or any plan involving disrupting society or the legitimate government, they will be incarcerated immediately. - Seeking out communists and communist sympathisers within government, and having them immediately removed from their positions and incarcerated, for a period to be set by the courts. Article b) Legal action will be pursued against parties and party members espousing radical, far-left ideology, with the aim of shutting down these parties permenantly, if found to be communist by nature. They should be branded illegal, criminal organizations upon such a finding. Article c) All immigration from communist countries will be immediately and permenantly quarantined. All trade from communist countries will be immediately quarantined. Article d) A black-list will be kept by the Communist Prevention League, which will be made publically available to all police departments and national agencies, in which every communist or communist sympathiser found will be listed. If communities or businesses encounter someone they believe to be a communist, they will be expected to report them, or they will be considered an accomplice to the communist cause. Upon this legislation's passing, the above articles will come into effect immediately. The communist infestation in Trigunia has crept in under our noses, without our full realisation. The situation is now extremely dire, and immediate action must be taken. We call upon the sensible parties of this nation, from both left and right, to fight communism as the world's greatest known evil. Stop the Red plague immediately. Vote for this legislation. |

Message | The KLT have shown their true colours as communist sympathisers - they vote against this legislation, consequently allowing the communist cancer to grow. We are beginning to suspect that the KLT is an integral component of the new communist uprising. If they change their position and vote in favour of this legislation, we will be less inclined to suspect them as a communist party, but their position at the moment seems to indicate that they are, or at least that they sympathise with the communist cause. |

Message | This bill is ridiculous! It takes away all rights to freedom of speech, and the liberty of the people to have an own opinion! Communism is equal to any other political ideology. For a former pro-family party, can't you see thta communism is just a big way of showing solidarity and brotherhood between people? Communism is about sharing and helping eachother. How could this ever be 'the world's greatest known evil' ? I urge all parties to vote against this resolution. It is dangerous, dictatorial, discriminating and just dumb. (I love alliterations) OOC: I see the FAT party had a name change.. :P |

Message | We cannot support such an assault upon Trigunia's democratic principles. We feel the ideas of fascism and intolerance are a greater threat than communism. |

Message | That would be populism, rather than fascism, as the cabinet lock was passed with a two-thirds majority. |

Message | The primary difference, in terms of this debate, is that fascists control the government whilst there is no really communist parties in the nation. That is what makes fascism a bigger threat than communism. |

Message | Fascists, as in parties the DLP dislike? Our political views do not seem to differ that greatly from the DLP's, except over monarchy, and public obscenity. |

Message | You also forgot that our views differ on democracy - we support allowing the people to decide their HoS and government, whilst you support oppressing and imprisoning people that disagree with you. But apart from that extremely minor detail, we are practically identical I guess. |

Message | Wheres the oppressing and imprisoning? We are not opposing efforts to change the cabinet system, and the King was elected with 77% of the vote, and the constitution was amended with a super majority. That is democracy, people can vote to establish monarchies. Until they give a supermajority for a Republic then we are not going against democracy either. |

Message | This bill that states people who are communists or even suspected of sympathising with communists should be punished. Furthermore, everyone who opposes this bill is branded as a communist! Democracy is not simply a popularity contest - it includes accountability as well. Just because the King was popular when he was elected does mean he is ruling democratically. He should have his mandate regularly renewed to ensure he still has the confidence of the people, and their consent to continue. By this logic, whoever won the 2385 election should still be King, because he was jolly popular at the time. |

Message | The King is Head of State, he doesn't rule, but the government rules on his behalf. The government should receive the consent of the people, but the monarchy is a timless institution that should be allowed to continue. Even within the ranks of the current opposition movement the SA support the idea of a monarchy, and indeed proposed a monarchy, they just disagree with the choice of monarch that we currently have. The chap who won the 2385 election did not receive over two-thirds of the vote, so would have had no mandate to become a true monarch. Admittedly we don't see the necessity for this Bill and feel that tainting all Republicans as Communists isn't right |

Message | The SA oppose this legislation? We thought that they had shown signs of being a sensible party, albeit left-wing. We suspected them of soft-socialism, but certainly not communism. This is indeed an unpleasant developement, and we urge them not to join the communist cause. Communism is an evil that even the soft-left should oppose. This legislation has, if nothing else, proven to us that there is now a communist stronghold in this nation. Four communist parties - we did not suspect that the situation was quite as dire as this, but appears that there is a communist majority in our parliament. We pray, for the people's sake, that this communist alliance will not stand, as we know it will not. Communism will never stand with the people, because it is an inherantly flawed system of governance, and it always will be. It is a plague - a cancer that infects and corrupts every victim nation on which it befalls. It is a disease that grows, gradually infesting the inner mechanisms of the nation and reducing it to a carcass; a barren wasteland, where culture, tradition, family, religion and freedom once stood proudly as the cornerstones of society. The communist infestation has reached epedemic proportions - we urge the SA to vote for this legislation - we appeal to their sense of sensibility and reason, and beseech them to fight communism, even though they are a left-wing party. |

Message | Indeed. It is an insult to communism to label the other repulicans so. The naive folly, of the SA, the zealotry of the KLT, the weak-minded liberalism of the SDRP- none of these is true socialism. Only we in the TF represent genuine communism, and we consider it insulting that you would brand these deviants as such. |
