MessageWhat has this country come to? We can pay prisoners, the criminals of our society, to do minial jobs while serving out their prison terms but we can't afford to fully fund the military.

We already spend millions for prisoner rehabilitation. Do we really need to pay them for their work. They should be expected to provide a service to the greater community without pay. Maybe the will learn an appreciation of hard work and community before self. Maybe just maybe they will return to society with a skill that they can use as an honorable, law abiding citizen.

MessageCannot afford to fully fund the military? Of course we can. Funding shortages, if there are any, are only to be blamed on the Federal Republican Party and the Constitution Party for knowing absolutely nothing about how to properly maintain a top-of-the-line fighting force, instead wishing to implement policies designed only to control our citizenry, while weakening our military.

We find it amusing that the CP found it inappropriate that the MAU would say that the State treats its citizens as slaves, yet wishes to exploit prisoners as slaves regardless of crime or rehabilitative status.

MessageThe CP has stood with our military from the beginning days of the party and are fully aware of how to maintain the best fighting force in the world. Research, training, caring for military families, veterans, and up-to-date equipment not to mention the support from the political leaders of this country.

As for the prisoners, the CP denies exploiting anyone. This is an opportunity to provide the prisoners with work ethic, a skill set that can be used and developed once released and to add to their pay-back of the community that they harmed.

The CP is not talking about chain-gangs who do nothing but pick up garbage on the side of streets. We are talking about meaningful jobs within the prison system.

However, we do not believe that persons who have wronged society should be paid.

MessageThe CP obviously knows very little about maintaining a state of the art armed forces if they support the mandatory conscription of civilians.

Who is to say the prisoners do NOT have a work ethic? For instance, the CP supported the illegality of cannabis and recreational drugs. These prisoners being arrested for running a business likely have a stronger work ethic than most, but the CP is too worried about making sure the government is a parent, at addressing symptoms, not problems (if there truly are any).

If a person wrongs society, they go to prison. They are rehabilitated if they need it. And they still retain basic rights of human beings. Forcing someone to work without repayment, regardless of the reason, is slavery and exploitation. It is stating that the person no longer may control his or her own person, but instead is a tool and slave of the state. Prisoners are people, too.

MessagePrisoners are people that have broken the law, some rights that are granted to normal citizens should not be granted to prisoners, this includes the right to wages during their time in jail.

MessageOnce again the MAU is having trouble reading the law. The law that you are referring to gives our citizens an option in serving their country. They may EITHER join the military OR they may join a peaceful organization like the Peace Corps.

It must be nice to only apply half of the law when it fits your argument. CP believes that the citizens would benefit from serving in either of these types of organizations.

MessageThe FRP argument is idiotic. If they do not earn money while behind bars, they will end up on the street with no money, and on the government payroll of free money for the short period of time allotted. Would it not be better for them to earn that money?

MessageWe support the Progressives.

As for the CP, they clearly have not listened to the MAU, not that this is surprising. If a person is forced to work at something against their will, performance for not only themselves but the group as a whole will be diminished.

It must be nice to only pay attention to half of the opposing side when it fits your argument. The MAU believes that the citizens would benefit from serving their own conscience as opposed to being forced into temporary slavery.

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature.
