Bill: SIP.2594.002 Military and Civilian Police Cooperation Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Sekowan Independent Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2595

Description[?]:

Currently, the law states that the military may not provide any aid whatsoever to civilian police forces. This situation, while it provides a safe boundary for seperation of civilian and government law enforcement, may bring some difficult problems legally in the future if civilian police forces are unable to resolve a situation. For this reason, the Sekowan Independent Party would like to suggest this law change to reflect a more cooperative effort on the parts of the military and civilian police forces.

MessageAs it currently stands the military can not step in to provide aid, should a civilian police force be overwhelmed. There are several situations where this can be disasterous, including well armed guerilla terrorists. Unless certain matters are automatically considered a military affair, and then the civilian police force cannot act as first responders or serve to try and contain and minimize damage from the threat.

Currently the law leaves a risk for the health and safety of the people of Sekowo, as the Independent Party sees it.

MessageBasically this would allow the civilian police to call in the military as a last resort. If whatever forces were at work (Natrual disaster, rebellion, etc) were too much for local forces to handle, then the military would provide assistance and attempt to bring the situation under control.
