Bill: Cleaning out the Treaty House Omnibus of 2594

Details

Submitted by[?]: Socialist Party of Kalistan (SPoK)

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2595

Description[?]:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is advocating withdrawal from the following Treaties, due to their age and inapplicability/irrelevance to current Affairs:

Condemnation of any attempted genocide of the Welsh-Dranians
http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewtreaty.php?treatyid=639

Reason: We feel this treaty has gone out of effect due to its age (200+ years). While these people are apparently still having debates about Welsh people (?), their government is conducting warcrimes trials. I am sure some of our older Parties will have something to say on this one.

Trade and Defence Entente
http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewtreaty.php?treatyid=161

Reason: This treaty is almost 450 years old, and we are the only signatory. Therefore it is superfluous.

Organ Procurement and Exchange Network for Transplantation (OPEN for Transplantation)
http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewtreaty.php?treatyid=549

Reason: The Ministry feels that this treaty, which sets up an international organ donation service, is superfluous and ties our nation's hand with regard to organ donation policy (not that SPoK wants to change it to some provision not covered by the Treaty, but we shouldn't have some moral issue like this controlled by an international agreement.)

These three proposals are open for debate, and then when the debate has exhausted itself, we will move to a vote.

Random fact: Periodically, it is a good idea to go through your nation's Treaties and arrange to withdraw from any that are unwanted.
