Message | We would prefer everyone to be able to purchase guns freely, but putting a block in front of the mentally ill and violent criminals seems reasonable. The problem arises when the government starts branding, say, political protesters as violent criminals or insane. We don't care whether or not the government issues identity cards, as long as they're voluntary. But refraining from doing so saves money, which is good. We would prefer the confidentiality of letters to be completely inviolable, but 'extreme situations' is still slightly better than 'grounded cause'. So, on balance, we support. |
