| Message | The PP's request is perfectly legitimate: Nudity is a certain state that is for private eyes, it must not be exhibited in public. Some people feel extremly disturbed by nudity and their number is quite large. If we compare this large amount to the tiny minority that wishes to be nude in public, the rights (to happyness) of more people would be set aside than in the curent state. Also, exhibition of public nudity is a principal that is not permited in neither islam, christianity or judaism which are the three largest religions in our country (OOC: see wiki page). Again the morals and values of these people are being set aside, the minority must not be treated any better, or worse than the majority. Finally there is the very large risk that parents be extremly unwilling to let their children watch pornography, and therefore it's mere avaivability is a bad thing. |

| Message | The FRP must understand that democracy needs to be more than two wolves and a sheep deciding on what is for dinner. Liberty is not something that can fall at the whims of the majority -- at its heart, a truly free society must be one that protects minority rights. The MAU does not feel that the government needs to tell people that nudity would not be allowed -- we would like to remind the FRP that there is no "right to not be offended." If a person does not feel comfortable allowing themselves to walk naked in public, then they won't. Liberty must be based on tolerance, and the exposure of the human body is hardly encroaching on someone's right to practice their religion. As for allowing children to see sexual content on the television, if the parents do not wish it, they are perfectly capable of not allowing their children to watch it, either by monitoring their TV watching, or acquiring a channel-limiter. The government is not supposed to be a parent, either by setting these sorts of trivial rules, or by providing a wallet for people to go to. The government is here for the sole purpose of securing the blessings of liberty for its people. |
