Bill: Colonization

Details

Submitted by[?]: Social Green Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2608

Description[?]:

Just throwing this out there - maybe we could do some colonization to celebrate our communism? I made this neat little map with a spot for a colony. I have no idea whether it's taken or not, but I do know we may be contested if we attempt to colonize. It will make for interesting roleplay, especially if we can figure out how to do it right. I gave the little islands names after our territories, and figured we'd just call it something like New Ikradon if we decide to do it. I'm open for name and location suggestions if you're interested.

Decision: Foreign Minister offers to purchase the islands from Beiteynu.

MessageShouldn't it be named after our glorious leaders? Like Loriya and one after the head of PLF?

OOC: Is colonization even doable?

Date23:09:56, July 16, 2008 CET
FromSocial Green Party
ToDebating the Colonization
MessageThat would be acceptable.

OOC: As far as rp goes, it has been done. It seems to be very difficult for nations to agree on who owns what and how, but if we work at it we could easily get ourselves a colony. This one is located on Squibble, and from what I can gather no one has rule over it yet.

MessageOOC: But is it possible to get those territories, or is it only RP-wise?

MessageOOC: I think we can actually get them. Not 100% sure, but if it is agreed upon and no one contests us, I think the mods allow it.

MessageOOC: It appears I was wrong. We'd need to buy the islands from Beitnu, they have them already. I wonder if they'd sell...

IC: It appears the selected colonies will need to be purchased. Are we still interested?

MessageI would assume they are relatively uninhabited. They would thrive under a worker's society, I believe.

Date00:21:27, July 17, 2008 CET

MessageThey could be holiday destination to give the workers a well erned break.

FromSocial Green Party
ToDebating the Colonization
MessageThat would be fun. If we make an offer to Beitnu, we need to come up with a price. How much do two islands cost?

Date01:30:50, July 17, 2008 CET
FromRed Dawn
ToDebating the Colonization
MessageMoneys... lot of moneys. But if the holiday suggestion holds, we could use it as a project and take the money from our budget for tourism.

Date01:33:30, July 17, 2008 CET
FromSocial Green Party
ToDebating the Colonization
MessageThat would be appropriate. We could form a party coalition to oversee the purchase, and later the government of the islands. Someone should also get in contact with Beiteynu (I've been misspelling it) and ask how much they would want for the two small islands south of Squibble. There is still a chance that they would not wish to sell, however. If they are willing to sell, we can debate pricing and decide on names.

(seriously, could the PLF change the names a bit?)

MessageFor names, Arbeider Island and Natie Island. Arbeider means 'worker' in Dutch (which our culture is loosely based of) and Natie means 'nation'.

MessageSo what do you think of the names?

Date02:54:50, July 17, 2008 CET
FromSocial Green Party
ToDebating the Colonization
MessageWell, since this was the idea of the Social Green Party, we'd like to name the smaller island after our founder, to be called Wheitra. If no one else wants that, we can name them after important Ikradonian political figures. For the whole colony, Neu Ikradon has a nice ring.
