Description[?]:
The Reform Party believes that, in order for Dranland's children to be protected from innappropriate material, our regulations on television, video games and, perhaps especially, the internet need drastic improvement. Children are highly impressionable, and anything that they are exposed to prematurely can have a negative impact on their childhood and development. It is, of course, parents responsibility to ensure that children do not witness this content when under their watch, but realistically, children cannot be under 24-hour surveillance. Video games often depict gratuitous violence, and, if in the hands of children, these violent scenes can be taken out of context and can be confused with reality. Many children who play these violent games develop violent tendancies, and sometimes even turn to extreme forms of violent crime as they lose sight of what is right and wrong. To play these video games, a high level of maturity is essential so that the player is not negatively influenced, and, as children are the most impressionable of all, they should not be exposed to such content. On the internet, sexually explicit and highly innappropriate material is simply a click away from being readily available to children. In some cases, this smut simply pops up on the screen without prompt, in the form of an advertisement. The internet makes no allowance for children, and whilst parents can have some measure of control over what their children do and see. Furthermore, whilst the main concern of this legislation is children and their safety, the internet can be used as a means for many other unsavory activities. Pedophiles, for example, often use the internet for their depraved pursuits, and often publish their abhorrent photos and videos with no restriction for other deviants to view freely. Terrorists and other criminals may also use the internet freely to communicate with one another and plan their activities with minimal concern for their security and discretion. Television, like the internet, makes innappropriate content too readily available for children. Even if nudity and sexually explicit material are only shown in time-slots in which relatively few childen will be watching, it is unrealistic to expect that . Besides this, television shows shouldn't have to rely on crude sexual material to create enjoyment anyway - it is entirely unnecessary, and the Reform Party favours the safety of our children in much higher priority than the freedom of perverts to view sexual content on television. In summary, the Reform Party feels that it is high time we cleaned up this nation's various media to ensure that children are protected from smut, and also to ensure that criminals are not allowed a free channel for their deviant activites. This requires more restrictions on television and video games, and greatly increased filtering of the internet. |

Random fact: Don't put "the" as the first word in your party name, because when parties are referred to in news reports, their names are preceded with "the", e.g. the [Socialist Party] has lost. |
