Bill: National Service Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Radical Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2608

Description[?]:

We cannot sit by and await terrorist activity to make us increase the security of our nation. We must be vigilant, in times of peace, to prepare for our duty to secure our nation. This training would not only benefit our armed forces and police services, but our over-burdened and over-stretched bureaucracy.

MessageThis fear mongering is nothing more than an excuse to revoke a basic civil liberty.

MessagePerhaps Mr. Woodson would not be so dismissive of its merits if a member of your family had been one of those that had died in the Ferene Bombings. The lack of on-hand military experience, and the reliance on the response of the policeforce, meant that it took several years to apprehend those criminals. If all citizens are trained in counter-terrorism techniques, we will be better prepared as a nation and a people for the terrible event of attack.

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life brand names (eg. Coca Cola, McDonalds, Microsoft). However, in the case of military equipment brand names it is permitted to use simple number-letter combinations (eg. T-90 and F-22) borrowed from real life, and also simple generic names, like those of animals (eg. Leopard and Jaguar).
