Description[?]:

Born to a father who worked in a steel mill, and mother who taught elementary school, Harold Belisarius began a career in public service early in his life with the Solentian Navy.

During his service he began a process of self improvement and self education, and was able to progress quickly through college upon the end of his military enlistment. It was very soon he found himself a member of the Solentian Radical Nationalist Party, and a candidate for Senate.

As someone who had seen firsthand the effect that decisions of careless old men had made on his own home town, as well as the port cities of his beloved republic, Mr Belisarius was a vocal juggernaut impelling his own party out of his sloth, and propelling him into a senate seat very early in life. He would remain there much longer than he'd served on any ship. As a moderate, he helped steer his own party into a new course, away form its sometimes shameful past.

What he is most known for, however, his is long period as Head of Government, which lasted from 2550 to 2575 with an interruption of 34 months in between. Brought in as Head of Government by the Populist Party, Belisarius soon found his head of state to be an altogether differnet person, the Federal Republican Party magnate, Ulrich Naveed.

At first a relationship that bordered on friendship turned into dynamic juxtaposition. While Naveed turned the country closer to tyranny and counterrevolution, Belisarius found himself in the position of peacemaker and sanity. This, coupled with managing SRNP military deployments overseas, would have overtaxed anyone else, and yet he was noted as somsone who avoided the usual political parties and overseas visits to spend his time with his family as much as possible.

Finally matters between Naveed's bloc and the resistance came to a head. Unwilling to let their country loose its foundation, Belisarius cried out "Not now, not ever" in the legislative chambers, and, together with members of the Conservative Socialist Party of Solentia, founded the Solentian Heritage Coalition, which included other parties practically overnight.

The Heritage Coalition was successful where other attempts were not, and Mr Belisarius found himself now serving as Senate Warden in the governments of allies instead of enemies. Despite the cowardly betrayal of the People Party, the Solentian Heritage Coalition stood the test of time.

Into his graying years, Belisarius had decided that he would step down at some point as Head of Government, however, one spring Tuesday morning, while about to visit with foreign dignitaries, Harold Belisarius was found dead of stroke. His funeral was one of the largest in the history of the Federal Republic.

Today he is remembered as a man critical in keeping the country from civil war during a terrible period. His legacy is the nation we live in, as well as his family, several of his descendants are still active in politics and law enforcement.

I am honored to bring this nomination on behalf of my party.

-John Damius, Minister of Education and Culture

MessageWhile the late Senate Warden's thoughts on segregation altered and became more enlightened through the years, he felt that the enslavement of prisoners made economic and punitive sense. We agree.

While the SRNP's stance on ethnic rights has changed much over the years, we still support forced labor of felons and prisoners of war, and we do not back down from that stance.
