MessageIvan Alots, member from Meria, stands to propose this piece of legislation:

"People are going to gamble, it is one of the oldest forms of recreation known to man. We do not see the need for expensive special licences to alow people to enjoy themselves. Many of our churches would take advantage of the removal of this burden to have casino nights, bingo, or raffles to raise cash; all activities which are currently technically illegal. If a group of friends in a local bar want to have a poker game in the back room, who is being hurt? Only the owners of the casinos, who currently hold a monopoly on these kinds of activities. We insist that the common citizen is capable of deciding where and when he or she wishes to gamble.

Ask your constituants, I'll bet they would be in favor."

MessageThe LPE realises that while gambling is not to be encouraged, it is a difficult practice to regulate. Therefore, led by our new, mildly more progressive leader, we are willing to stand behind this bill. However, crime levels and the economy will be carefully observed subsequent to the passing of this legislation (If indeed it should pass) to ascertain the effects this new law will have on society. If the results are negative and can be traced back to the passing of such a bill, we may take steps to have the ban reinstated.

MessageThe AAP offers support to the RLP, and is happy to find solidarity with the LPE, on this issue.

We believe the RLP reasoning is excellent, and a good point, well made.

So long as the safeguards suggested by the LPE are taken onboard, the AAP is happy to support.
