Details
Submitted by[?]: Novy Smer Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 2118
Description[?]:
Gambling is just a way of the rich getting the poor and needy to squander their money in the hope of a better life, whilst giving them only a very small chance of winning. We should not allow this exploitation of the poor by people such as the Grand Duke of Hikirena (the owner of many casinos). Casinos are also often the covers for many other nefarious activities. |

Old value:: Gambling is illegal unless taking place in a licensed casino.
Current: Gambling is illegal unless taking place in a licensed casino.

Message | We think that a complete ban may be too authoritarian, although we support the existing regulation and we agree with much of what you about how the poor are exploited by capitalists and aristocrats. |
Date | 07:29:50, September 29, 2005 CET | From | Progressive Liberal Party | To | Debating the Gambling Act |
Message | We won't vote for this attack on individual liberty. |
Date | 12:24:58, September 29, 2005 CET | From | Ducal Delegation | To | Debating the Gambling Act |
Message | His Grace thinks this is a Communist idea. Why should people not be able to gamble their money at his casinos? If they don't spend their money there, they'll only waste it somewhere else. If the government does pass this legislation, the Grand Duke expects FULL compensation for the closure of his legitimate businesses. Percy Waterman (First Minister of Aldegar and Personal Secretary to the Grand Duke of Hikirena) |
Date | 16:50:06, September 29, 2005 CET | From | Junker Party | To | Debating the Gambling Act |
Message | We must agree with the Ducal Delegation. We would have perhaps agreed with a more open ended bill, but not one that would straight out illegalize gambling. |
Date | 17:53:38, September 29, 2005 CET | From | Sanctaphrax Party | To | Debating the Gambling Act |
Message | And besides, it may be a way of the poor losing even more money, but what about the rich who let the money go to their heads and lose it all? |
