Bill: JP Abolition of Sales Tax Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: Tokundski Nacionalisti
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2119
Description[?]:
We propose removing the sales tax on essential goods such as food and clothing. We cannot believe that any party would support an extra tax on goods that citizens need to survive, such as food. More importantly this tax hits those on low incomes hardest, as they see a greater proportion of their small incomes eaten up by a tax on the essentials in life. Why the hell should a poor family have to scrimp and save just to afford bread, because some idiot has slapped a tax of 10% on it. Its outragous and we do not understand why the Labour Party blocked this abolition the last time we tried to push it though. |

Message | We voted against it because as a sales tax it is hard to avoid, income tax and inheritance taxes are easier to avoid. Plus it broadens the tax base to all. It is just aslong as it's not too high. |
