Voting deadline: November 2119
Description[?]:
In memory of Plinio Alditia: The goverment cannot rely only on private industries to provide its weapons. These may be bribed by enemy goverments, or simply taken over through financial maneuvering. It is important that we are able to rely on our own industries to provide our basic needs. For a healthier and safer Mordusia. |

Message | This woud be better than subsidising private companies. |

Message | We are undecided on this issue. We are receptive to the arguments that a national defence industry could promote some specific function that the private sector could not match. However, we are unsure what, specifically, that would be. Further, should we be concerned about the current arrangement, where subdization of certain research and development functions in much the same way as directly managing the company? Finally, we are wary of the cost. Would there be enough economic activity generated by this act, that would not be generated by the private sector alone, to compensate for the cost of taking on the fiscal burden of a large corporation? We are inclined to vote against until these concerns can be answered. Which they very well could be--though we are essentially undecided, we remain disinclined ;) |

Message | The creation of defense industries by the goverment is precisely to avoid market swings where we could impoorting all our rifle shells if we are unlucky enough or we dont have enough demand at a specific time. Subsidizing gives incentives to companies to research what we want, but if they dont find the area profitable enough they will of course head somewhere else. Thats the problem. Private companies are vulnerable to profit and if we dont pay enough they may head to an enemy country instead, having govermental factories will shield us against those risks. |

Message | Government and business should not mix. |

Message | We're not convinced this is necessary. It seems to go against our economic liberalisation instincts. |
