Bill: Head of the Military
Details
Submitted by[?]: Reformed Conservative Party of Lodamun
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 2631
Description[?]:
We propose that the head of the military should officially be the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. This has been the functional fact for quite some time, but it has not been written as law. This overrides any other previous legislation that puts Joint Chiefs or any other group in charge. |

Message | we agree that this makes sense, especially considering that their is no longer a division of military powers between the Head of State and the Head of Government. |

Message | It should also be understood that the title "President and Commander...." refers to the Head of State's title at the time this bill passes. If that title were to change, logically the bill would apply to whatever the head of state is called. |

Message | OOC: I forgot to include the War Powers Act. I would appreciate players contacting me before they write legislation trying to repeal old legislation. If you do not understand how the system works, ASK. IC: There is no need for this because the War Powers Act clearly states that the Head of State is in charge of the military. |

Message | The War Powers Act is in effect invalid because of the removal of the office of Head of Government. We agree that the entire system needs to be thrown out as this proposal calls for. |

Message | The War Powers Act is not invalid. Since the Head of Government still exists (the Head of State), it still works. You can't simply say it is no longer official. It is, until repealed by a two-thirds majority of Parliament. OOC: I won't look for everything myself, you do some research as well. |

Message | In other words, this bill won't change a thing. We recommend those parties who have doubts to please read the War Powers Act before making any "assumptions." That goes for the author as well as those currently commenting on this bill. |
