MessageHowever, why not push it up to this level, "There shall be a minimum wage at a level that a full time worker on it can support a family of four without falling under the poverty line."?

MessageAs with any significant economic change there will be adjustments to be made. We would prefer to introduce this at a moderate level initially and observe the impact on the economy. Once the minimum wage has been generally accepted it can be raised gradually if that seems appropriate.

MessageThe Government must provide incentives for people to go out and get a job. If the wage doesn't cover what that person needs, then they are just going to become a burden on the state. That's why we support this measure.
