Message | "Religions are not companies. They are pastoral organisations which also provide key community services vital for many Hulstrians. Though the current law states that only 'profits' can be taxed, the government cannot in good conscience argue that this is adequate. If religions are forced to pay taxes, then obviously they will have to divert resources which would otherwise be used for charitable functions. The idea of imposing any form of taxation on religions not only violates religious freedom but also endangers services provided by religions." -Elisabeth van Jaarsveldt DM for Hennersdam North HNP Spokeswoman on Education and Culture |
