Bill: Animal Protection Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Free Lunch Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 2646

Description[?]:

"Domesticated" animals have plagued our streets for far too long. It is not normal, nor is it even RIGHT to keep exotic animals in the home. It's not natural to have an anaconda living in the basement, or a zebra trotting around in the back yard. These exotic animals should be kept in zoos, where they can be properly cared for, and present no threat to the public.

Same with dogs and cats. Every year, thousands of "pets" will be sent to the pounds, and die there waiting for a new owner. It should be mandatory for these animals to be licensed and registered, so the local government can keep a hold on this problem before it grows out of control.

The trade in exotic animals is regulated, what more do you care? Nobody really stupid will get them.
Domesticated animals being registered with the local government is a bad idea. They are domesticated, as in they aren't near as likely to hurt people.

Oh, Animal Protecton Act? I thought the government was in the business of protecting people, not animals. You guys epically phail.
