Message | We could support "There shall be a minimum wage at a level that a full time worker on it can support a family of four without falling under the poverty line.", but not this.. |
Date | 08:34:00, October 03, 2005 CET | From | Covenanters (IA) | To | Debating the Minimum Wage Act |
Message | We could never support legislation like this: minimum wage = standard wage. Our workers deserve the right to nefgotiate for wages well above these subsistence levels, collectively if need be, without being hampered by this yardstick. |
Date | 10:30:20, October 03, 2005 CET | From | Luthori Green Party | To | Debating the Minimum Wage Act |
Message | The minimum wage is not the standard wage, but is is well above the subsistence levels. They can still negotiate for better wages, and will not be hampered by your so-called "yardstick." This is just to assure that the corporations cannot make profits at the expense of their employees. |
Date | 20:36:02, October 03, 2005 CET | From | Covenanters (IA) | To | Debating the Minimum Wage Act |
Message | Nonsense: since the minimum wage was introduced all casual workers earn the same. Their employers, usually parasitic recruitment agencies, claim the wages are acceptable because the government says they are "well above the subsistence levels". |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
