Bill: Ectopian Transport Reform Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Ecotopian Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2121
Description[?]:
The first steps in transport reform. We favour the creation of intergrated public transport grids, which operate free of charge, and bicycle stations for short distance trips. This will allow us to gradually reduce our roads and beautify our cities. The additional costs involved in building the system will be met by the monies made from their ceasing to be a need to maintain public roads. We argue for a phase out of motor vehicles in line with the expansion of alternative means of transport. As services become available in an area, it will be defined as a "car-free zone". |

Message | This is a good measure, but it's a tad extreme. Why not change the proposal to one car per household? |
Date | 07:22:07, October 04, 2005 CET | From | Ecotopian Party | To | Debating the Ectopian Transport Reform Act |
Message | Because we wish to end our dependency on individualised and wasteful transport systems. We are not proposing a blanket ban, but a roll back. People may continue to use cars until there is a public transport system available in their area. One car per household is insufficient if there is inadequate alternative transport. |
