Message | This bill will remain in debate for a few months to allow the people to understand why parties agree/disagree with this bill. Before this bill moves to a vote (quickly), I want all parties to submit at least one response to this bill. I can ensure all parties that this bill will move to a vote and will not be cancelled. |

Message | PARTY LEADER: I remember when this bill was passed, I just couldn't believe it; that parties in this Senate are happy for porn advertising to be shown at 2pm; adverts to join gangs to be permitted and adverts on why certain religions are better than others leading to religious tensions/riots. Ask yourselves if you really want adverts like that on our televisions or in our papers, because according to the current law, these are permitted. |

Message | Advertising on television would be regulated along with the rest television. This bill has more to do with making false claims according to my reading. However if we did allow nudity on television, I suppose we could ban it under this wording since the wording is so vague. I wonder why giving the government such broad, unidentified powers is wise. Couldn't we pass a law stating that only pro-URP ads were allowed under this wording? |

Message | After the passing of this bill, the cabinet will bring forward a bill outlining the new standards and will put it up for debate until we can reach a consensus. |

Message | We can set the standards as long as we don't violate any Constitutional clause. Free speech will always be protected. We support. |

Message | There is no such thing as Free Speech if this bill passes. Government determines what speech is allowed. |
Date | 23:02:58, October 08, 2008 CET | From | The Liberal Party | To | Debating the Advertising Regulation Bill 2648 |
Message | You have the wrong concept of free speech. Freedom of speech is the ability to freely express yourself as long as it doesn't cause harm to another individual. |

Message | The new standards will protect the country from advertising that could be extremely harmful to society. Also the government will not dictate these new standards, the Senate will lookover the ones that the cabinet bring forward and any changes can be made. |

Random fact: Parties have the ability to endorse another party's candidate for the Head of State election (if there is one). This adds a strategic element to the elections. |
