Message | CP would like to add that the Sekowan government does unofficially practice this. For quite some time now. A good example would be the "Anti-Deltarian Trade Alliance" treaty (http://80.237.164.51/particracy/main/viewtreaty.php?treatyid=808) that Sekowo has ratified. CP believes this should become legal and this approach adopted officially. |

Message | We prefer to see reciprocal tariffs than economic sanctions on countries which fail to practice free trade. As such, we currently oppose. |

Message | CP fails to understand NPP's reasoning of why we should deal with people who don't want to play fair. Putting a sanction on them will send a clear message. |

Message | This issue is not about "fairness." It is about economic advantage. The current law allows us to reject an unbalanced trade by using reciprocal tariffs directed specifically toward Sekowo. In the proposed law, other nations that are "against free trade" might not necessarily be against trading freely with us, but against trading freely with some other nations; they would still fall under this broad category. We would thus loose a free-trade opportunity out of idealism alone. Every economist agrees that free-trade is good for both trading partners, and we should thus do everything in our power to ensure it. |
