Bill: Armed Neutrality Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: Telamese Defence League
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2654
Description[?]:
We propose that Telamon pursues an independent foreign policy, committed to isolationism and neutrality. However in order to be capable of following such a path, we must build a strong armed forces that serves to deter any other state from threatening our well being. Thus we propose that a conscript army is formed with the purpose of defending Telamon. A volunteer army is great, if you are looking for highly motivated career soldiers who do not mind fighting overseas. But we must recognise that as we are concerned purely with the security of Telamon, then we must have a citizen army that draws in the entire population, rather than just the sections the armed forces traditionally recruit from. Furthermore we also propose that limits that have been currently enforced on certain weapon technologies should be overturned. It does not mean that we should start building or even purchasing these weapons, but we should be prepared to consider doing so in the future. |

Message | DCD we recognise that in its current form this Bill is unlikely to pass, however we would be happy in the future to propose smaller Bills, in cooperation with other parties in order to se legislation pass. (I do apologise for putting Bills straight to vote. Once the FP has seats in parliament, then we shall act like a proper party and leave Bills in debate for a while). |
