Message | Yes, it is. Minors do not have the same rights as adults do. Since they are prone to negative influences, they can't be trusted with certain privileges. |

Message | Prone to negative influences? How so? I do not understand why minors should not have the same rights as adults. |

Message | How do you feel about juvenile detention, then? Should minors be charged in the same way as adults? |

Message | Yes, I feel they should. I think that minors should recieve the same punishments of adults if they are to recieve the same rights. I thing the age of 12 though should be the limit to this, however. |

Message | So they should be put in the same prisons? |

Message | Why is the cut off age 12? So a 12 year old gets the same rights (and faces the same punishments) as an adult, whilst, say a 10 year old doesn't? What is the justification for this? That perhaps the 10 year old has a significant difference in intellectual and emotional maturity from a 12 year old? Don't you think that a 12 year old also has a significant difference in intellectual and emotional maturity from, say, an 18 year old? A difference that is perhaps much more relevant in terms of the rights (and punishment) an individual should receive. |
