MessageSupported enthusiastically - this will be a first of its kind on Terra, Lodamun may finally get the recognition it deserves as a bastion of civil rights.

MessageSo we are to send those who fight against Lodamun immediately back to the front line?

This is absolutely insane.

MessageI'd like to, before this bill pasees, create an international treaty saying along the lines that in order to have a prisoner of war returned, they must promise not to send them back into the military.

MessageDraft it, and ask our esteemed foreign minister to submit it to the treaties page.

The foreign minister is very obliging about such things.

Message"Immediately"

This is what we object to. Why don't we send POWs back once hostilities have ended?

To do so beforehand is irresponsible, and even if they "promise not to send them back to the military"--How can we trust a nation at war with us?

Message1. Prisoners of war shall only be returned to their homeland immediately if and when:
a. Their country of origin promises that the soldier shall never be drafted into the military until the conflict is over and a peace treaty has been agreed upon by both nations.
b. The conflict is over and a peace treaty has been agreed upon by all nations.

2. All foreign combatants captured by the People’s Republic of Lodamun and any other nation who ratifies this treaty shall be treated well based on internationally set standards until they are released home.

3. If the enemy nation fails to comply with previously ratified treaties on the treatment of prisoners of war, military treaties, or economic treaties, it gives any nation in compliance the right to hold their prisoners until whenever they see fit (but no later than immediately after peace has been restored between the two parties)

Article 1:

Proposal to change the government's policy regarding the treatment of prisoners of war.

Proposed: Prisoners of war are immediately returned to their own government.

this is something like the treaty I'd like to propose.

MessageTo trust the word of a nation we are at war with, is simply insane.

No party that vote in favor of this bill will ever recieve TiC support for minister of defense.

MessageHow can TiC suggest there will be any POWs? There entire defence strategy is based on a nuclear deterrent, they don't plan to take any prisoners.

thats why theres the plank saying that we can, for lack of better word, hold their POW's hostage for negotiations if they break this or any previous treaties.

MessageDo you forsee Lodamun pursuing a war of aggression with another nation? I for one, will oppose one, as I believe the other parties here will as well.

If we are involved in a war, it will be due to foreign aggression, and we simply should not trust someone willing to attack us.

MessageAs declaration of peace is set to pass, and it is reasonable to assume that we cannot trust an aggressor who attacks us, I urge all parties to vote against this bill.
