Bill: Law of Succession, 2685

Details

Submitted by[?]: Hessexian Arab Royalists

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2686

Description[?]:

The line of succession to the Quanzar Throne is a partial list of the people in line to succeed to the throne of the Quanzar. The succession is regulated by this bill and the Constitution Act, 2685, which limits it to the heirs of Edward the first, the first Hessexian King of Quanzar, as determined by equal primogeniture, religion, and legitimate birth.

1. A person is always immediately followed in the succession by his or her own legitimate descendants (his or her "line") except for any legitimate descendants who already appear higher in the line of succession. Only birth order matters: older children (and their lines) come before their younger siblings (and theirs).

2. The monarch must be a Catholic at time of succession, and enter into communion with the Orthodox Catholic Church after succession.

3. Anyone who is outside any of the Catholic traditions, or becomes Protestant, is permanently excluded from the succession. Marriage to a Protestant does not affect an individual's order in the line of succession, but only children raised in the Catholic tradition are eligible.

4. A person born to parents who are not married to each other at the time of birth is not included. The subsequent marriage of the parents does not alter this.

5. The Monarch, regardless of gender, maintains the royal family name of Hessex upon marriage. In the event that the Crown is passed on to an individual outside of the immediate royal family, the name can also be taken up by other members of the line of succession, so long as they are descendants of King Edward, the first monarch of the dynasty.

6. If the list of the line of succession has been exhausted then a new noble family may be placed on the throne in consultation with and approval of Parliament.

MessageThis is to make it clear how succession is governed in Quanzar so as to avoid confusion when a monarch dies. The main points here is that succession will be based on equal or absolute primogeniture and communion with the Orthodox Catholic Church.

Any objections?

Random fact: When forming a cabinet, try to include as few parties as possible, while still obtaining a majority of the seats.
