Bill: Trade Union Striking Reform
Details
Submitted by[?]: Hobrazia First
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2125
Description[?]:
We think that in order for a union to go on strike they must hold a ballot where over 50% of the union agrees to vote. this would stop Unions for declaring a strike where only a minority of the workers would support it, and for the essential industries would allow more time for a minimal service to be set up. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Trade union strike ballots.
Old value:: Trade unions are not required by law to hold a ballot before striking.
Current: Trade unions are not required by law to hold a ballot before striking.
Proposed: Trade unions must by law hold a ballot of all members before going on strike, a majority of all members, regardless of if they vote or not must approve the strike action.

Message | Sounds fair. Unions should not be able to arbitrarily tell there members what to do. We support. |

Message | We would rather the law was changed so as to make it so that unions cannot force people not to work. That would make this law effectively irrelevant. |

Message | If a member votes yes but they fail to get the required votes, that defeats the purpose of a union. |

Message | Repeating CSP's question. How would one member voting yes, a but a majority voting no defeat the purpose of the Union? The purpose of a Union is to provide the best for its workers. If the majority of said workers vote to do something, then surely the Union should follow what the majority of it's members want...? |
