Bill: Amendment to laws regarding euthanasia

Details

Submitted by[?]: Christian Democrat Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2703

Description[?]:

This party sees that any law legalising euthanasia puts pressure on the most weak and vulnerable members of our society. Any law allowing euthanasia (even if not intentionally) makes a statement that those who are weak or disabled are unwanted in our society and are better off dead. Even if a law is meant for those desperate to end their lives, it puts pressure on others, making them feel that they should also have their lives ended to stop themselves being a nuisance. NO PERSON deserves to feel like this, therefore banning euthanasia protects the vulnerable citizens of our society, who we must make feel wanted, not an inconvenience.

MessageThe NKRP are not sure. Euthanasia is obviously a very difficult topic to debate, the true emotions involved can only really be truly experienced if a person knows someone suffering from a terminal illness who has been in the terribly, sad and difficult position of considering euthanasia.
Because we are undecided on this we will wait to hear the view of other parties before we commit ourselves to changing any laws on this.

MessageAs long as removing the power from a life support machine is not yet considered euthanasia most people will be happy with this bill...

MessageThe Imperium party is also unsure due to the obvious ethical issues surrounding the issue. though i believe that people have i right to chose when they die if they are terminally ill with degenerative illness. Though i do agree that it puts pressure on vunerable people who may feel a burden and it will also lower socities value of life.

MessageI believe that euthanasia is wrong, as these people are taking their lives, becase they are ill with "incurable" diseases. How do we know that they will not far out live their life expections, or will begin to revove unexpectadly. Also cures for these could be discovered, giving them back the ability to do everything which they had previousally.

As a result of this people may be killing themselves or having themselves killed for no reason whatever.

Therefore vote yes:

MessageTo the Free Thinking Party - no switching off life machines would not be euthanasia if brain death has been established, as the person is no longer technically alive.

To the Likatonanian Imperium Party - our argument is not that someone does not have a right to choose when they die - that is the reason this bill does not consider euthanasia murder - but our government cannot have any laws that allow euthanasia as this simply puts pressure on the vulnerable.

We request parties not to think of whether euthanasia is a morally acceptable choice - but to think of the pressure laws allowing euthanasia puts on those who believe themselves to be a burden.

Random fact: By default the head of government is the ultimate authority within a national government. In general terms, heads of government are expected to consult with cabinet colleagues (including those from other parties) before making significant decisions but they remain responsible for government action.
