MessageAgainst, mens sana in corpore sano. The State should at least support sports clubs in areas which are not densely populated in order to ensure the people who live in those areas have the chance to practice the sport of their liking.

MessageAs in areas that are not densely populated, sports clubs generally don't tend to be profitable. ;-)

MessageSmaller sports clubs in line with population size would be just as profitable, and it isnt as if the government builds massive sports complexes for little villages. The only difference is that the service would be provided by a company through direct payment, not the state via reallocation of taxation, which is inherently more efficient.

MessageOpposed. Local governments should be allowed to fund sports clubs, should they want to.

Well I'd be willing to compromise and make this a local/state issue.

But such smaller sports clubs would not be able to afford all the necessary equipment and facilities.

MessageWe are talking sports clubs, not fucking gyms

Sports clubs, like football, rugby, tennis and cricket. Clubs that exist perfectly well and numerously in Britain without any funding whatsoever

Yes I know what you mean. I would rather see no funding go towards these clubs but this is a piece of legislation that could actually pass at the moment and would end federal funding of these clubs. It is better to have it this way then the current way, wouldn't you agree? Please this isn't a time for partisanship. Accept this compromise as the only way we're going to get rid of this current funding at the present time.

MessageOh come on FP. Don't be like this. This legislation is much, MUCH, better than the current. If people can't learn to f*cking compromise in this country we should just not make laws because I can probably count how many will be passed.

You're wrong there, this is indeed about ALL sports facilities and such.

OOC: Also, please stop making RL references.
