Bill: Separation of Powers Amendment

Details

Submitted by[?]: Sons of Liberty

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2710

Description[?]:

At current, the head of the government is a member of the Lexate elected for Legislative duty, but with the power of executive chairmanship.

The head of state is largely a figurehead; elected by the people for no real purpose.

We propose thus that this be fixed, that the executive is elected by popular vote and for static terms. He will be separate from the legislature as a means of checking the power of the Lexate.

As the Cabinet consists of the advisers to the HoS, we feel as well that they should be chosen by him and then confirmed by the Lexate, rather than given to him by the Lexate. This again checks the power of the masses of the Lexate.
