Bill: Cabinet Proposal of February 2720 - An End to Government Deadlock

Details

Submitted by[?]: Federal Republican Party (ZC)

Status[?]: defeated

Voting deadline: October 2720

Description[?]:

The domestic strife in Zardugal was clearly reaching the boiling point. Everyone within the F.R.P. was aware of the crippling deadlock in the government. The Foreign Ministry had received numerous letters from other leaders asking what our problems were; truly this has been a dark time for Zardugal. . .

Having tried time and time again to reach out to other parties within the Nova Terra Bloc, the Chairman of the F.R.P. gave up after receiving no responses back. Thankfully, the United Zardugal Liberal Party was able to work with all parties and relay concessions in between one and all. The role the U.Z.L.P. has played has been invaluable to our nation, for certain. Having received word that there may be a breakthrough in the back-channel discussions, the F.R.P. for the most part was over very happy that the business of the nation could go onward.

News reports have been floating about, all unsubstantiated that within the F.R.P. two main factions were at war with one another to concede any points with those in league with Nova Terra. It's been made clear by the announcement of the Lord Protector that he would address the National Directorate on the issue of the new compromised cabinet as to which faction won out.

The Lord Protector was escorted to the National Directorate in the center of Belgae. Accompanying the Lord Protector was the now internationally known Foreign Minister Edward Rawlins. Both men set in the car as they made their way to the assembly of Directors with a silence that could kill. There was a dreadful sense of turning the clock backwards felt by both, and it went unexpressed but understood by both men. . .

As the Lord Protector walked into the Directorate, the F.R.P. delegates applauded widely at the sight of their new youthful party leader. The Lord Protector slowly made his way through the throng of those in attendance, shaking hands as he passed by various friends and enemies alike. With a slow entry, the Lord Protector took quickly to the rostrum and reached into his suit-coat pocket and produced several pieces of paper.

With a clear of the throat and drink of water the Lord Protector began, "We have all failed the citizens of our nation. . .The government shutdown can only be blamed upon international influences. This must stop. It is known widely that the F.R.P. has close, indeed very close ties to the Axis. It is also as widely known that Nova Terra is forming and on the rise. Neither of our alliances to either of these bodies is an excuse for our behavior these last two years."

"I come before all of you today, to call upon a new era of bipartisanship. Yes, we won't always agree. Yes, we belong to various organizations at odds with one another. Ultimately however, the agenda of this body is to represent the needs of the citizens of Zardugal and not pay lip service to our international friends and allies. Opposition is healthy, indeed a requirement in a democracy such as ours. I nor my party has ever sought to be tyranical or despotic. There are some here today who have called me and some of my colleagues very unkind things, fair enough. Respect though, that the people have spoken in free elections. Mud-slinging doesn't accomplish anything. Constructive criticism and debates on important national issues are what matters."

"I can't begin to thank the U.Z.L.P. for their efforts in seeing that a new page is turned for our Republic. I can only hope that the other parties here today can take a lesson from all of this and honor as well, the bipartisan efforts of U.Z.L.P. . ." The Directors from the F.R.P. took to their feet to applaud.

"Most importantly, I am here today to sign off on this cabinet and I shall. I am quite pleased to know that U.Z.L.P. shall take the mantle of Chancellor given all the parties actions during these turbulent times. The Capitalist Party has done a fine job indeed with our economy. Axe and Hammer while returning not long ago, is an old ally of the F.R.P. and we hope in the posts granted, each party will serve their nation and not anything else. I thank you all for your time here today, and support of this measure. . ." With that, the Lord Protector quickly grabbed his notes and walked off the rostrum and as his fellow party members applauded; though there was a notable split in the F.R.P's ranks at the reception of the speech just rendered.
